This is not the time to experiment on or vandalize the journals. I would think that the importance of swift communication at this time was self-evident. Damaging our best means of doing so is not conducive to our efforts.

Especially if the cause is due to some petty argument. You are wasting time, ink, and energy.

How does an argument cause a portion of the journals to be... nonexistant?

I do not know exactly what they did. It looks as though it has been dipped in acid, but I cannot think where they would have found or made it.

A magic spell targeted at the journal is a consideration as well. I do not know if this is possible but... I can think of breath being used as well, though I am not sure of the method.

It is not a force that I am familiar with, except for having seen its use in healing. But it makes sense that it would have destructive uses as well.

I recall it being extremely useful in battle, though I was never the one to cast it. But that there are many schools - destructive, healing, assistance to your group, hindrance to the other group, laying traps, overcoming traps.
