Are these date "auctions" a common custom on many planets? I cannot think that a static holo and one sentence of description is any way to judge a potential romantic partner.

True, I doubt it was ill-intentioned. I think something similar to the "cop and robber" game might be better overall... although I know my opinions on such matters are not widely shared.

No, I mean that I don't think anyone's entering into this thinking that they're selecting a mate. It's a meet-and-greet game, framed like a dating service. Or so I'm assuming; Locket and Bridge certainly acted like it.

There was too much chasing during cops-and-robbers to do any talking - all right, I did meet Dyad, but that was the exception.
